no half: shins worse...but support staying strong!

So....last blog I spoke of getting my hands on a number for the BAA half tomorrow....but I decided against after a few tough runs with shin splints worsening every run...I want to be smart and healthy and stay clear of injuries...so I am sitting tomorrow out...but will be by JP pond to cheer on the runners tomorrow am...and I will be out there with them Monday afternoon for the Tufts 10k...continuing to get my run on training for next Sundays Amica half in Newport....

I think to succeed in any life challenge you need a strong support system to get you through...that's why I chose Newport, RI for my first half so my family could be there cheering me on....with support from those around you anything is possible...especially when that the support makes you dinner after every run!!

With my shins sore and my body starting to feel the increase in mileage I have been trying to decide if I need to start adding anything into my training plan; yoga, stretching, pilate's. I made an appointment for a massage next week before my half, will help get those lactic acids out of those tired legs of mine...I want to try to schedule one every month or so...might give yoga a shot in the coming weeks...as a baller I always made fun of yoga....but I actually think it may be what I am missing....any thoughts?

I'm out for now...check the blog on Monday pm for a recap of my first 10k...maybe some pics!!! Looking to keep a 10 minute pace to finish right around an hour...if you find yourself along the Charles Monday come cheer me on!!
